Spirituality has a purpose. It is not here to entertain us or to give us something to talk about over dinner. Its purpose is to improve our lives.
That doesn’t happen overnight.
I meet a lot of spiritual seekers who are so excited about their spiritual path that they immediately want to jump to the end. They start throwing around esoteric concepts such as “We are all one” and “Opening of the heart.” But these are advanced concepts. Until you’ve made progress with the process of working on yourself, cleaning up and raising your own vibration, they mean very little.
It’s best to start with more simple concepts that will help you gradually reach your goal, one step at a time.
So How Do You Start?
The first step is to become more aware.
The more aware you are, the more likely you’ll work on the areas that will optimize your life experience. The more diligent you are, the faster you will shift what needs shifting.
Awareness Of What?
Examples Of Basic Awarenesses:
A number of basic things happen to all of us throughout the day — without us even being aware of them:
- Negative emotions.
- Resentment toward individuals.
- Judgment — and prejudice.
Try to think about your day. Can you recall any awarenesses about your emotions, resentments or judgments? Some spiritual teachers recommend keeping a journal where you write down, at the end of the day, all the awarenesses you felt during the day. This can increase your awareness dramatically.
Examples of More Advanced Awarenesses:
Beyond those basic awarenesses, we also experience some more advanced occurrences that we need to keep an eye out for:
- Thoughts that keep repeating themselves in your head.
- The message you put out to the universe.
- Patterns that keep showing up in your life.
These awarenesses may not be available to you right away. You may first need to learn a few basic spiritual laws, like The Law of Attraction, before you can understand the connection between your thoughts or emotions and what you manifest into your life. But once you make that connection, you’ll be able to take your awareness to the next level and improve your life experience.
How Awareness Works
A good place to begin is to decide to be more aware of your emotions. For example, you might start noticing that occasionally, you feel annoyed or irritated by certain individuals. You notice the problem but you have no idea what to do about it.
So you read about the Law of Attraction and you learn that your emotions are your point of attraction: if you’re frequently irritated, there’s a good chance you’ll attract more circumstances and people into your life that will make you even more irritated.
At this point you realize you need a strategy to reduce your annoyance: you turn to the available processes in your Practical Spirituality Toolbox. (If your toolbox is empty, it’s time to fill it up by learning and practicing a few processes.)
You try Forgiveness Prayers, a process that works miracles with any glitches you have in relationships with other people. It’s a great solution for irritation.
You choose the person who irritates you the most and perform a Forgiveness Prayer. That sense of irritation disappears. Next time you see that person you may even smile at them and give them a hug. Stranger things have happened!
Perform a Forgiveness Prayer for every person or issue that irritates you and you’re on your way to cleaning up that messy vibration. You’ll attract either nicer people into your life or an entirely different behavior from the same people.
Awareness leads to a desire to learn more, and then to action which creates the shift in how you feel and what you manifest.
Decide to become more aware today and you’re on your way to wonderful and fulfilling spiritual journey and a better life experience.
That was so illuminating and enlightening and I thank you so much for this beautiful offering.
